These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things.......
I got to thinking about old memories that I have with friends old and new, and I decided to blog about some of my favorite things.
~I love those perfect clear nights in October when you can wear your jeans, gym shoes and a comfy hooded sweatshirt. They're the best nights to sit around a campfire with your friends. There isnt a care in the world during these hours, and you can talk about anything. Telling jokes, sharing embarassing stories of your past, and drinking beer that is kept in a cooler on the patio. You can look up and see the stars in the sky, and the leaves falling from the trees. Sometimes you have music playing in the background, but on the good nights, you cant even hear it over the roaring laughter. Yes, you'll end the night going to bed with your hair smelling like a campfire, but its so worth it.
~ I love the feeling you get when its Christmas time, and you're being snowed in. Its freezing in your bedroom so you're curled up in your bed with an over-sized down comforter, and you just popped in your favorite movie. You dont need to have any lights on because the christmas lights in your window havent shut off yet, so theres just the slight dimness of colored lights.
~ When you're going on a much anticipated vacation and you finally get there, is the best moment of the trip. I only say this because (especially if you're in a place that you've never been to before) that first moment is full of possibilities. You have your whole trip ahead of you, and you're filled with excitement, nerves, and maybe a little fear (depending on where you are). Even though you may be exhausted from your travels, you get this wave of energy and all you want to do is throw your luggage in your room and explore.
~ I dont know if you know this, but I often have trouble sleeping. In fact, I am sleep deprived as I am typing this. Sometimes, I'll go almost 3 days without sleeping. My head starts to ache, and my body starts to shake, and I know that it will shut down if I dont get some sleep. I can barely get my pajamas on, and get under the covers without falling face down onto my pillow..... and i love the non-stop flight to snoozeville. There's no tossing and turning, or endless streams of thought before I doze off. Sometimes i'll even wake up in the exact same position i fell asleep in, and its wonderful.
~ A truly horrific thunderstorm that starts mid afternoon and lasts all night. You look outside one minute and you notice its kinda cloudy and really windy, and you something's coming. 10 minutes later you take another look and the clouds are almost black....... then kinda greenish....... and then you see that first bolt of lighting in the distance. The tree branches are blowing sideways, and all over the street. The rain is coming down so hard that you can barely see 5 feet in front of you. The lightning and thunder seem to be happening non-stop because the storm is right over you, and just as you notice the wind growling, lightning strikes somewhere near and the thunder is so loud that almost startles you out of your chair. On those nights, I always sleep with my curtains open so I can still see the storm...... but its only a good storm if the power goes out for a while, thats how you know Mother Nature has done her job well.
Those are just a few of my favorite things..... there will be more to come eventually. Since my life isnt exciting enough to post "how my day was", I consider this post to be a filler.
